From 2014, REWE will reward its customers with PAYBACK points for their purchases. The retail company has signed an agreement to this end with Germany’s biggest loyalty programme. “We are delighted that our customers in over 3,000 REWE stores will be able to benefit from this attractive programme starting during the course of 2014. The partnership brings clear-cut benefits for REWE and PAYBACK customers alike”, says Lionel Souque, Member of the Board of the REWE Group and responsible for REWE stores in Germany. Key to REWE’s decision was PAYBACK’s impressive standing as a marketing platform with over 20 million active users. PAYBACK’s innovative mul-tichannel approach was just one of the factors that tipped the scales in favour of the partnership. PAYBACK has offline, online and mobile channels and can contact customers by post, e-mail or mo-bile phone. “REWE is one of the best-known brands in Germany and one that our customers would definitely like to have as a partner. We are confident that the company will dovetail perfectly with the other PAYBACK partners. Our platform draws on the strengths of all the partners in a way that is mutually beneficial. The integration of REWE means consumers will be able to collect points and save money even faster than before. This partnership also generates significant scope for further growth for PAYBACK”, says Bernhard Brugger, CEO Central Europe at PAYBACK GmbH. As the 3,000 stores are spread widely across Germany, the PAYBACK card will be used at over 40,000 points of sale when REWE joins the network. The card is currently presented at cash desks 1.5 million times a day and also used to collect points at over 600 online shops. In Germany, PAYBACK has achieved household penetration of around 50 percent. According to TNS Emnid, it is the third most common card in German wallets behind only the EC payment card and the credit card. More and more customers – currently 1.2 million – are using the programme in mobile app format. About REWE:
