Whether it's a project to buy beds for a children's hospice in Leipzig or water purification tablets for cholera victims in Haiti, donors can trace exactly where their points are going and follow progress online. They can also put questions to those in charge, upload their own image and evaluate the projects. They can even set up their own charitable initiatives. In this way, the interactive donations project enables its users to act on their own initiative to make a difference.
What's more, the idea of using points to make donations has the potential to go even further – according to a survey, 50 percent of PAYBACK members are willing to donate their points. Europe's largest loyalty programme has 20 million active card users in Germany alone.
