Opel rewards customers with PAYBACK points
Effective immediately, Opel is rewarding its customers with PAYBACK points. The company signed an agreement with Germany’s biggest loyalty programme. “Our exclusive partnership with PAYBACK will help us attract new customers and boost loyalty among existing Opel drivers. We are offering an additional bonus when customers buy one of our models. In other words, customers have double the benefit – in addition to a great car, they also gain points that can be redeemed for vouchers, rewards or even cash,” explains Opel Marketing Director Tina Müller. Key to Opel’s decision was PAYBACK’s impressive standing as a marketing platform with over 20 million active users and its innovative multichannel marketing approach. PAYBACK has offline, online and mobile channels and can contact customers by post, e-mail or mobile phone. “Opel is one of the best-known brands in Germany and will match perfectly with our other PAYBACK partners, making the programme even more attractive for our customers,” says Bernhard Brugger, CEO Central Europe at PAYBACK. Customers buying an Opel – regardless of whether it is a new car, demonstration model or test vehicle – will receive initially 5,000 points, which can be multiplied through promotions and the use of coupons. To celebrate this new partnership, Opel will be awarding sevenfold points to customers buying an Opel Zafira from now on until 31 December – this equates to 35,000 PAYBACK points. The PAYBACK card is currently presented at cash desks 1.5 million times a day, with customers collecting points in-store, online and on the move from over 600 companies. The most recent high-profile additions have included Telekom, Expedia.de, Dehner and REWE supermarkets, who will launch PAYBACK in the course of 2014. In Germany, PAYBACK has achieved household penetration of around 50 percent. According to TNS Emnid, it is the third most common card in German wallets behind only the EC payment card and the credit card. More and more customers – currently 2 million – are accessing the programme using the mobile app. Opel plans to publish its own PAYBACK card with a special design free of charge.
